SO. It’s good for our health, point proven. We have all somehow figured out that our bodies need it across the world -which is actually Awesome to think about- but what are the Common Threads (sutras) that link us in our spiritual lives throughout so many cultures and religions? -Let’s Delve, shall we?
-“You visit the earth and water it you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide the people with grain, for so you have prepared it.” – Psalm 65:9
-“Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” John 14:13-14
– “Let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22
-“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city.” Rev 22:1-2
Traditionally in the Catholic Church, the custom is to bless oneself with Holy Water on entering the Church and when leaving. (Making the sign of the cross is optional.)
In the Buddhist view, Water symbolizes purity, clarity and calmness, and reminds us to cleanse our minds and attain the state of purity.
The Tao Te Ching (Taoism book of Wisdom & Philosophy) says “The Supreme Goodness is like Water, nourishing all of creation without trying to compete with it. It gathers in the low places unpopular with men. Therefore it is like the Tao.”
In the Hindu Religion, the importance of physical and spiritual cleanliness and well-being… a striving to attain purity and avoid pollution. This widespread aspiration lends itself to a reverence for water as well as the integration of water into most Hindu rituals, as it is believed that water has spiritually cleansing powers.
In Paganism, Water is a feminine element, it also the element of emotion and subconscious, of purification, intuition, mysteries of the self, compassion and family.
Voodoo uses Water Rituals for healing, spells, and cleansing, and the list goes on and on, and On within all of these cultures and religions.
Water has Magnificent Power. Beautiful fluidity with Force, No matter what part of the world you live in, if you take a walk into Mother Nature and observe water or play around with it, it will reveal its qualities to you…maybe you can even find a few qualities in Yourself considering that you are mostly made of water! Here’s a few:
*Water is relentless. It never stops exerting its force, Oh how it loves to Press Onward & Outward.
*It’s force is a manifestation of its nature. It does not try to be something it is not, it applies neither morality nor immorality.
*When it is restricted, Water seeks the weakest spot of any obstruction and applies constant force until it is free.
*When it is pressed or attacked, it changes form and will re-position itself. It exerts constant counter force to search for weakness.
*Water is opportunistic. Given the slightest opening it will pass through. It will do so while the opening is present. It will widen the opening if possible.
*Water always seeks to do the easiest thing as long as it can.
*Water does not complain about the path it follows. It simply follows the path.
*Water has a wide range of energetic expressions, but continues to be Water. It can be Still. It can be sluggish. It can be fast and flowing. It can be pounding. It can be mist or vapor. It can create Energy and Electricity, all the while still remain Water.
So we have seen that Water Cleanses us, Nourishes us, Detoxifies us, Revives us and gives us and our entire earth Life. May we be Good to ourselves and Honor our bodies with the Proper Hydration Physically, Mentally, Emotionally and Spiritually.
